A characteristic of all the staff at Camphill School, from the School Principal to the gardeners, is their dedicated commitment to the care and development of the learners. Given the nature and the wide spectrum of disabilities represented at the School, there is a high adult to child ratio; for some of the children it is one-on-one.
The classes are small, no more than about ten children to a class, and, in addition to the class teachers, there are a number of class assistants and young full-time volunteers, mostly from Germany and other European countries. Click here for more information about how to become a volunteer. Without this ancillary help, both in the classroom and in the boarding house, the services provided by Camphill School would be completely unmanageable. In addition to the full-time staff, an extensive range of therapists is contracted on a part-time basis to provide the necessary therapeutic back-up for the learners’ special needs.
